Taste of the Trails is designed to encourage skiers of all ages and abilities to try cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in a simple and festive format. A 5 km (3.1 mile) course will take participants around the Rendezvous Ski Trails. 4 feed stations are staffed by volunteers and offer snacks and water to participating skiers. Skiers can casually stride from spot to spot, revel in the winter landscapes, refuel with friends, and explore the trails in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere.
For those familiar with the Rendezvous Ski Trails, the course will start at the Trailhead Building, through the In & Out Trail to the main junction. Feed Station #1 will be located near the large trail map and will feature appetizers. Skiers will then be directed along Rendezvous Loop on Washburn Cut-Off to Feed Station #2, The Soup Station.
Continue on Rendezvous Loop which will bring you back to the Biathlon Range and Taylor Fork Cabin for Feed Station #3, the main course and a campfire to huddle around.
The final leg of the course will return to the trailhead building via Purple Haze where Feed Station #4, dessert, a campfire, music, and a party atmosphere will be waiting!
ALL snowshoers must start at 12:00 pm (noon)! Skiers may start anytime between 12:00 pm (noon) and 1:00 pm. No participants may start after 1:00 pm. Feed Station #4 will close at 4:00 pm.
EVERYONE skiing or snowshowing MUST have a Rendezvous Ski Trails pass. Passes can be purchased at check-in, or with the Fee Tube next to the arch or during business hours at FreeHeel and Wheel, The Chamber of Commerce or the Hebgen Lake Ranger Station.
Taste of the Trails is a unique ski experience with a friendly environment and fun, festive atmosphere. All visitors are warmly welcomed to West Yellowstone and invited to explore other local cross-country ski trails. We encourage groups of all abilities to ski together!
